Is this multiple choice and/or can I say “all of the above”?

All of them does seem to be the right choice, doesn’t it? When the idea for this post popped into my head, I was actually thinking about a process of political devolution, one that seems to have led the GOP from Herbert Hoover’s defense of hard money in the Great Depression to Reagan’s sponsorship of the CIA butchery in Central America in the Eighties to Trump’s encouragement of a quasi-suicidal aversion to mask-wearing among the MAGA faithful in 2020. Be that as it may, the one aspect of this that I’m certain of is that henceforth no educated American, regardless of her political persuasion, is ever again going to ask how a Hitler could have arisen in such a civilized country as Germany.
