A MAGA Bestiary

Cruelty, venality, mendacity, sanctimony, ambition, and greed. Also self-delusion. Also ignorance.

There’s an extra “e” on Greene. I guess it’s for extra special stupidity.

Thanks for the catalog. The only other I’ve seen is the one done by Ann Telnaes documenting January 6th.

Though Pedinska tells me it demands your email address; if you have a “throwaway” you’d use…. anyway, I think you caught them all.

Memory is the first step in denying them rehabilitation. If we learned anything from the Nazis’ fastidious record-keeping at Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen, Sobibor, etc., it’s that. I left out some evildoers, like Glenn Beck and Roger Aisles, who predate MAGA, and are anyway no longer relevant. I also left out the Tate brothers, who are only MAGA adjacent, and Barron Trump, who isn’t yet completely his father’s son. What chance has he, though, really, to become his own person?

Anyway, I’ll keep adding names as I encounter them, either in memory, or in the media. Today, for example, Enrique Tarrio, Roger Stone, John Eastman, Kenneth Chesebro, and Stephen Moore will go up. It’s like knitting, this project—it’s never finished.

And thanks for the typo tip, now fixed. This one was my error, I think, although autocorrect does sometimes silently sabotage me. I used to be a much better copy editor than I am now, in my dotage. I’ll check out the WAPO link whenever I’ve gotten my daily injection of mastodon doom-scrolling. (God, will I never learn to stop doing that? When I bailed from Twitter, I thought I was cured, but alas.) As for the email address fakery, Apple has a pretty convenient way to generate them, and keeps track of them for you as well, so I think I’m good. Once more unto the breach, eh what?
